The wait is finally over. After a total period of 5 years collecting, researching and another 15 months of interviewing, writing, doing photoshoots and designing, I now can present to you the book ‘Time for a change, Discovering vintage Enicar. I am extremely pleased with how the book looks & feels and I’m looking forward to the feedback of Enicar enthousiasts, collectors, friends and family.
The first run is 500 books. Thanks to the backers on Kickstarter, eBay and this weblog, I can already start shipping 375 books. If this batch runs out, I would love to do a second run. That would really blow me away, because that would actually make me a real writer. My children think that’s almost as cool as being a rock star.
I have changed my writing desk into a post office and I’m preparing shipments as we speak. If you want to come over to Enicar book headquarters in Eindhoven (Sectie-C), please let me know. You are welcome to collect your book, have a coffee and tell me what gave you the Enicar fever. Some people already went ahead.
See you later, one way or another.
Having just received the book and immediately started reading. What a wonderful book! Can’t thank you enough for this Martijn! Well worth the money, this is a must-have.
Thank you for your feedback Gustav. Very much appreciated.
Hello.
After extensive searching day I have come across your details. I am very interested in the early life of ENICAR and the history in campaign watches for Woodrow Wilson. I also found out that they emblazoned on the lower part of these watches a range of faces for export to certain parties. I know very little so far and I was wondering if there is a reasonable history written in your books. If so could you direct me to that particular one please or indeed communicate with me directly where I would have several question’s for you. Thank you for your time and hope you can respond very soon.
kind regard’s
Michael.

Hello Michael,
The information you are sharing is new to me. Enicar was founded in 1913 in La Chaux de Fonds and within a few years, Ariste Racine, his wife Emma Blatt and Ariste’s brother Oskar expanded their business rapidly. They built a new factory in Lengnau, Switzerland in 1919. It is very well possible that Enicar already exported their products to the US in the period Woodrow Wilson was president. However, I have no solid proof of this. If you have photo’s of campaign watches that may indicate Enicar was somehow involved, I would be very interested to see these.
Best wishes from Eindhoven, Martijn
