Since I started sharing my passion for Enicar on Instagram, I’ve talked to a lot of watch collectors and Enicar enthousiasts. For me, it’s the perfect medium to share photos, place comments and start discussions. I’m not on Facebook. You want to know why? I’m afraid it will be a black hole for me, absorbing all of my spare time (and I’m pretty busy with Instagram as it is, wink wink).
On Instagram, I get a lot of requests of watch collectors to valuate their Enicars. Some guys are tracing a piece on eBay and want to check if a seller is asking a fair price or is just completely out of his mind. Others want to discuss a specific watch and the condition it is in. I love these one-on-ones. It feeds my knowledge of the brand and broadens my watchfam network. As I usually state in these DM’s, I’m not a professional trader. I only know the prices I paid for my own Enicars. And of course I try to stay in tune with the market: the well known trader forums, eBay, Catawiki, Chrono24, countless Instagram accounts, the largest watch fair of the Netherlands ‘Rikketik‘ and the guys from my WhatsApp groups. When I lay all these pieces on the table, I can more or less see the bigger picture of what’s going on in the market. Isn’t this the way we all stay in track?
I decided to create my own Enicar Watch Value Barometer. My goal is to re-visit this value table two or three times a year, so we can see how the market moves. To make things easy, I defined five categories. These represent the most popular Enicar models and the ones I get asked about frequently. Condition is graded in three categories: Very good – mint, average – good and poor – fair. I will use Euro in my estimates and I will also use a bandwidth.
Now for the HUGE disclaimer: The photos used are from my own personal archive (except the one on the top page, thanks again Romuald). I don’t want to valuate a specific watch that is not mine here online. Also, my estimates are not official watch dealer prices, no guaranteed sale gainings and no official asking prices. This Watch Value Barometer is nothing more than my own personal opinion of the current (January 2018) market value of the Enicar watches mentioned. It will be incomplete, it will be food for discussion and it will be fun. I do appreciate your comments guys!
